Snow Day

We woke up this morning to this outside our window:

Someone had fun. :) Do you see the kid sized one by the street?
So after a miserable failure of an attempted morning nap, I decided to dress Tess up in her "maybe we can use this for two-winters" sized snowsuit and go out. She did not know what to make of the snow.
And she didn't like walking in it. She's screaming at me because I walked into a deep pile of snow to get this picture and she couldn't follow me.

A neighbor with a little girl was meeting some friends in our building's garden area. So there was lots of pink.
It was perfect snow for snowballs and snowmen. It piled high and held together. If only Tess were older.

New Skills

Tess is just now able to put all the rings on this toy. At first she would pick them up, carefully place them next to the stick, and feel completely satisfied that she was doing it correctly. At some point she figured out that putting the rings on the pole was the goal, but she could only manage it if we guided her hands. Now she'll go to the toy on her own and slide the rings into place. However, it's still a challenge for her, and if she's holding a ring in a bad position, she has a hard time figuring out how to rotate it. When this happens, she looks up at me and screams while making the funniest face. Sometimes I help her out of the bind. Sometimes I let her figure it out herself.

She will also take the blocks from another shape sorting toy she has and try to slide them onto the pole. I find it really interesting to watch what she has and hasn't figured out about basic shapes and their properties.

Starting to Climb

Story Time

Teeth Update

Tess now has 9 teeth, eight in front and one molar. She's cutting the other three molars. She also loves to brush her teeth whenever I brush mine.

New Shoes

Tess got her first pair of shoes with rubber soles.

So now she brings them to me and goes to the door, hoping we can go out for a walk through the halls.
